The Rev. Dr. Patrick H. Jones accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of the Bethany Baptist Church in Montpelier Va. During his many years of attendance as a faithful member he served on the Usher and Trustee ministries.
Rev. Jones is a graduate of Patrick Henry High School, Virginia Tech, and the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University, where he earned both his Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees. He was licensed and ordained at Fountain Baptist Church in Richmond, VA where he served as Interim Pastor for more than a year. He then served as the youth minister for the First Union Baptist Church in Mechanicsville, VA for an additional year before being called to pastor the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Mechanicsville, VA where he served for 8 years.
In addition to his pastoral experience, Rev. Jones has been an instructor for the Evans-Smith Leadership Institute at Virginia Union University. Among the many courses he taught, one of the most important courses essential for the completion of the institute’s church leadership program was “Understanding the Call to Ministry” in which he helped clergy and lay people discern their calling in the gospel ministry. Rev. Jones served as Prison Chaplain at the Buckingham and Dillwyn Correctional Centers in Dillwyn, VA. He currently serves as a chaplain with the Hanover County Sheriff’s Department.
Rev. Jones served as the Executive/Discipleship Pastor at the Salem Baptist Church in Omaha, NE for a congregation of approximately 3,000 members from October 2006 to June 2012. He was responsible for providing leadership to all of the ministries of the church while serving as the supervisor for the Director of Operations and Finance and Youth Pastor positions.
In July 2012, Rev. Jones began serving as the pastor of the Bethany Baptist Church, Montpelier, VA.
He is married to the former Alicia Shelley of Richmond VA and is the proud father of one daughter, Mikala and one son, Garrison.
Rev. Jones’ ministry objective is to challenge, liberate, and empower men, women, and youth through the gospel of Jesus Christ.
